As you may know, Judy Dales and I have been touring small format art quilt exhibitions since Fine Focus 02 and have really enjoyed it. We have been busy figuring out what to do next, now that Fine Focus 06 has gone home. Coos Art Museum made our decision for us! They have invited us to curate a special exhibition “New Focus” for the Atrium at Coos Art Museum from Dec 12 2008 through Feb 21 2009. The exhibition is in conjunction with 2 other art quilt exhibitions at the museum: “Transformations”: a SAQA exhibition of contemporary quilts which premiered at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England and was juried by Rudolf Smend of Cologne, Germany and “Stitch” : An exhibition of 5 Oregon Artists.
We put our heads together and began planning an exhibition which shows the breadth and range of the art quilt medium while showcasing the best professional art quilters. We chose artists with a history of excellence. We looked at past Fine Focus exhibitions, the SAQA website, the SAQA Portfolios 13 and 14 and scoured the magazines and the internet to compile our list.
We are very proud that the following artists have accepted our invitation to participate in New Focus.

Well I tried three things for making the pincushions last on my art car.

The first try was resin, which made the cushion a weird darker color

The second time I tried Modge Podge which left them soft but colorful

Then I hit on the winning combo, MP first and resin  after it dries.

I forgot the one that I had only Mod Podged and stuck it on the car to see. Well here is the result a month later! Yuck

Last week I screamed like a girl and jumped on the toilet when confronted by a three foot snake in the second floor master bath. It reminded me of my mother jumping on the table when she saw a mouse. She called my Dad at work. Luckily my dh was home this time. This snake has BEEN LURKING in my house since super bowl Sunday, when I saw him, screamed and ran away and he disappeared. John thought I was crazy as he saw no snake. Well now he has been relocated to the park ( just a garden snake my husband said )

You would think with FOUR cats this would not be an issue! But probably one of them brought it in three weeks ago as a present for me!
